The process:
Cool, so you book with me — what happens?
1. Consultation
I will bring all of my fabric books and measuring implements to your home or office. There are no obligations to buy, no need to move forward. Talk anything from tweed, silk dupioni, cashmere or simple worsted wool for a suit - talk shapes and then based upon what needs you express to me, I will advise you on different design elements and fabric to accomplish your goal.
You have your design and you are measured - next….
2. Making your piece
To start on making your piece, I will require a deposit of half of the total price we agreed on in the consultation. As part of the cost of the project — you will recieve 1 meter of your two favorite fabrics or ½ meter of your favorite 4 fabrics to help your decision process. Before the muslin has been made, you will have this fabric to drape upon yourself to help you see the bigger picture and help to finalize decisions.
This should be 4 - 6 weeks from payment.
Next is…
3. Muslin fitting & final decisions
By the time you have the muslin or at the muslin fitting, you will have your meterage of fabric. In the muslin fitting, we have the option to change any and all design elements, fix fit concerns and to most of all, help you to visualize what different choices look like. The muslin doesn’t have any pockets on it fyi.
It is during this fitting that we will finalize all of the decisions including fabric choice. If there are significant changes to either the fit or design elements, we can do another muslin fit before making the piece in the final fabric.
All decisions are finalized, next is…
4. Final piece makeup
The last half of the payment will be paid here, and is a signal of confidence that you feel happy with the muslin and all of your other decisions.
I will be talking with the patternmaker to change everything we found in the muslin fit — trying to optimize your piece. The piece will take an average of 4 - 6 weeks to make.
Once made up, I will be doing another fitting with you to do any final touches that would need to be made whether on preference or otherwise. I will be committed to making sure things are right.
Any alterations would be turned around in a week and we will make sure everything is great before releasing it to you.
At the end of the process, I will hope that you feel heard and that you are wearing something that feels like you can see your best self in the mirror. That’s what I want to make.
